Life?Why? What have i done wrong to deserve such a hard life. Why me?

These words has been lingering in his mind since the death of his parents. Yet this had never once stopped him from believing in his faith. It only made his soulful character grew even more.

He knows if he polishes his mirror everday(metaphorically speaking),he will turn his way of analysing things around him. But how?by prayer. Never once had he doubted the power of prayer. As things will always happen for a reason. You might think it is the end of the road, but its just a new beginning.David's soulful character got him through the bumpy roads and awarded him a career of a lifetime.

As a Z-generation contractor, he loves exploring the maximum possibilities of construction. Exposing it to the maximum. to showoff its beauty intead of disguising them.In David's new dwelling in Scotland, he adapted that in his exterior skin of his dwelling, while exposing the inner spaces with as much natural light as possible.Light shine through sky-celings and sky-wells to light up the cramped building.(image: Digital 1 - An exterior perspective of his dwelling)(image: Digital 1 - Sky-wells + glass ceiling panels)

Instead of the usual flat glass panels, he explored the curved glass panels to see its compressive stress,which in the end created this nice glass panels in steel frame.(image: Digital 2 -An exterior view of the front-side dwelling)(image: Digital 2 - An interior view from the study room to the living room)

His obsessive habit of wanting to explore the maximum possibilities of construction(which i think is an construction engineer's duty) made him model up his dream house with full of constructions exposed.(It acted as an art as well)

exploration of space + passive light source

I had allocated maximum possible direct natural light to his dwelling(as seen color coded in yellow). Though this building is cramped between buildings, all area spaces managed to receive enough light through out the day. :)

Light: an important aspect of the dwelling due to the limited resources caused by the tight location space.I have positioned 2 direct light wells;
a)direct light source to the living+bedroom
b)staircase
But how shall i input the character into his dwelling micro/macro-ly besides the concept of having to make full use of every space without having to spend more haha?Hmmm that i shall explore :)

I watched a documentary just awhile ago on channel ABC called "Buildings That Shaped Britain - Birth Of The Metropolis" at 6.30pm.
Architectural history of Scotland new town layout was aired.Awesome documentary...it might not help in studio,but what the heck? =)
Next week on thursday6.30pm ABC,the topic would be on CountrySide Revolution...=)

as the company expanded, David was appointed an additional post in the company. Besides being the director, he was appointed the manager of the new open branch in Scotland.
His new dwelling location;
Kilwinning, North Ayrshire, Scotland.

as i explored my character, i kinda have a picturesque image of how his dwelling would be;
simple
long narrow stretched
skylight
cramped between adjacent buildings
yet each space is used up.

i watched a documentary once, where an old carridgeway alley between buildings was used to build a dwelling for a father and son.and were always amazed how every single inch of the land in Japan was made to good use. No lands were wasted. New dwellings were built to accomodate more people. One great japanese architect that built such works is Ryue Nishizawa.

David?
he is a simple soulful guy;
satisfied with what he earns, and nothing more;
were never envious others;
David is contented with whatever he earns since his first paycheck from the part time job as a waiter. Earning enough to pay for daily needs plus paying his tuition fees is all he wants.
Till today, he earns;
to pay daily needs
to sustain his family
to save
to purchase things he/his wife loves reasonably
never once wastes money.

Superintendent-Tower Houses

My character name is David, a happy newlywed living in the capital city of England, London. As tough as England life might be, his soulful and strong character kept him surviving all these years ever since his parents left him at an early age. Since that day he had been living with his grandmother from his mother's side in a country side near Wales. His grandmother is seriously wealthy and loved him so much that she provided everything for him. You may think he is studburn, but he doesn't want to owe anyone anything, although he knows his grandmother help was all out of love for him. David's strong character never once made him depended on his grandmother for financial help;His soulful side encouraged him to swear to never give up on any hardships;because he believed things happen for a reason, and this challenges will help him grow in order to survive the tough and harsh life of England. Throughout the days of university life, he worked part time as a waiter at restaurants in order to pay his tuition fees. As tough as the harsh winter days, he also worked during breaks, full time in a recycling factory, sorting out the waste(ex:paper,metal,glass) to their located bins, ready to be recycled;Earning 1pound an hour. His experiences in a recyling factory lead him to found the first ever Recycling Society in University of Wales. Amazing.

Now as a construction engineer, he works in a private contrator company that specialised in residential houses. His young age of 28 did not stopped him from taking up the role of director in the company and all co-workers respects him, for his friendly and open character either during work or non-working hours.

He and his wife first laid eyes on each other during university;They were sweethearts that found true love. Though both came from different family backgrounds, or had different likes and dislikes, they were a match made in heaven. Family and friends relations were very much treasured by both, thus Sunday lunch/dinners were a routine to gather the persons they love for a mini catch up each weekend.

Well there is also this unexpected other side of David;that he loves gardening to the max, but can't really find the time. David is really good at what he does at work, but deep inside he just really wants a break from reality, a break from all the years of fighting through hardships; Not that he is complaining about his current comfortable and stable life. He just wonders what would his life would be in his own pictured perfect world.

A world ike the Mediterranean Islands, where the bright sunlight captures the beauty of the sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. Living a kitten-ish life each day...ahhhh (like a kitten lazing around playing the yarn ball throughout the day).

"Oh the wind from the sea....."mumbles David. (in a dreamy tone)

"Dear, isin't it time to bring the documents to Mr.Albert? before the guest arrives for lunch."

"Oh!"replied David.(just awake tone)

○No.75: Superintendent - tower houses

Based on wikipedia, there were various meanings to the word superintendent;
The following are just a few picked from wikipedia which i think my character means;

1) Superintendent (ecclesiastical), a church executive performing the duties of a bishop
2) Superintendent (construction), a supervisor who is responsible for scheduling subcontractors on behalf of the general contractor
3) Building superintendent, a manager, maintenance or repair person, custodian or janitor, especially in the United States; sometimes shortened to "Super"

Which one should i use, any suggestions? =)
am thinking of choosing number 2
